How to create a social media content calendar: ideas and examples for 30 days

A calendar organizes decisions, not just posts. Plan content, production, service and measurement with a thirty-day example.

Plan around capacity, not pressure

A content calendar connects business goals with what you can produce consistently. At Alterno, we use it to organize topics, owners, dates and next steps. It should not require daily posting or displace customer service.

The example is an illustrative independent Puerto Rico coffee shop selling drinks and packaged coffee, not an actual client or result. It includes posts, conversations, preparation and rest. Extend it across more weeks or adapt it to services and organizations.

Define objectives and pillars before formats

Choose one or two goals: store visits, answered questions or orders. Assign an observable action to each piece. Awareness can use relevant reach; sales require recorded orders or inquiries, not only reactions.

Education, product, community, process and service are pillars: what you discuss. Format describes presentation; video is not a pillar. Our social media strategy connects these decisions to audience and resources.

Rest days require no posts. Keep a sequence fitting your operation, confirm availability and do not promote products, hours or conditions you cannot provide.

Adapt ideas to each platform

Do not reuse the same file and caption automatically. Instagram comparisons can be carousels, TikTok ideas demonstrations and Facebook posts local explanations. LinkedIn B2B content can replace coffee with processes or purchasing criteria. Adjust framing, length, captions and calls to action.

Adapt language to your audience without mechanical translation. Keep business information consistent and avoid audio-only essentials. Use the social media sizes guide for readable assets.

+

Assign production and approvals

Add owner, recording date, review date, copy, assets, links and status. A workflow can be idea, draft, review, approved, scheduled and published. Assign commercial checks and permissions. Keep versions to avoid outdated posts.

Reserve production blocks compatible with operations. Batch recording reduces interruptions but leaves room for weather and inventory changes. Missing permission means replace or postpone; silence is not approval. Use products, objects and processes when suitable images or permissions are unavailable.

Allocate time for replies. Reduce frequency if nobody can respond. Our content and social media management integrates planning, production and coordination within agreed scope.

+

Review results for the next month

Review weekly and assess trends at cycle end. Education can use saves and questions; service, clicks and inquiries; orders, completed actions. Tag website links and note promotions, budgets or changes affecting comparison.

Do not discard low-reaction content that answered an important question or attribute every same-day sale to a post. Record a conclusion and a specific next test. Our website traffic guide connects distribution with results.

+

Avoid an unsustainable calendar

Common mistakes include daily promotions, planning without resources, late approvals and purposeless repetition. Ignoring questions or using material without rights also undermines the plan. Separate advertising goals and budgets from organic planning.

Start sustainably. Your calendar should improve service, not create another impossible task. At Alterno, we can structure the process with you. REQUEST A PROPOSAL +
