So many pieces. Just one reading?

A company may have a website, social media, advertising, content, email marketing, and analytics tools all running at the same time. But having many active components doesn't always mean they're connected or that there's a clear vision of what should be improved first.

Sometimes the problem isn't doing too little. It's investing time, resources, and budget without a comprehensive understanding of the brand, the channels, the data, and the processes that underpin marketing.

That's why we created the "Alterno " Digital Marketing Audit: a guided self-assessment that helps you take a look at the entire ecosystem, identify what's already working, and prioritize upcoming opportunities.

What is Alterno Digital Marketing Audit?

It is a free, adaptive digital marketing self-assessment. Through a structured interview, it evaluates capabilities, practices, and maturity levels in the areas that influence a company’s digital presence and growth.

This is not an automated scan of your website or a technical audit of your platforms. The result is calculated based on your responses. The goal is to provide you with a structured starting point for discussing, prioritizing, and making decisions with greater clarity.

The path changes based on your situation. If a skill does not exist or an area does not apply, the system adjusts the subsequent questions to avoid unnecessary steps and ensure the assessment remains relevant.

+

Eleven areas to see the full picture

The Digital Audit brings together disciplines that are often examined separately:

  • Brand, identity, and positioning: visual consistency, messaging, value proposition, and brand relevance.
  • Website, User Experience, and Conversion: functionality, content, calls to action, forms, and the ability to convert visits into opportunities.
  • SEO and Discovery: Search Strategy, Keywords, Visibility, and the Use of Tools to Understand Organic Performance.
  • Social Media and Content: Strategy, Frequency, Formats, Community, and Alignment with Brand Objectives.
  • Production and creative assets: photography, video, and systems that enable the creation of useful and consistent pieces.
  • Digital Advertising and Media: Objectives, Campaigns, Audiences, Investment, and Optimization.
  • Retargeting, first-party data, and audiences: the ability to reconnect with interested people and use first-party data responsibly.
  • Email marketing, CRM, and automation: contact management, follow-up, segmentation, and automated communications.
  • Measurement, metrics, and KPIs: analytics, conversions, and indicators linked to business results.
  • Artificial Intelligence and Automation: The Practical Use of AI and Automated Processes with Discernment and Purpose.
  • Strategy, sales, and operations: priorities, planning, sales monitoring, and the ability to act on the insights revealed by analysis.

The combination matters. A campaign can drive traffic, but it needs an experience capable of converting that traffic. Good content can attract attention, but it needs metrics to learn from. A database can be valuable, but it needs processes to put it to use.

How the Evaluation Works

First, you tell us what we need to know to tailor the interview to your company, its current stage, and its channels. Then you go through a dynamic process: some questions appear, change, or are skipped depending on your previous answers.

Most questions use a maturity scale that distinguishes between an advanced and measured capability, a structured practice, partial implementation, something very basic, or something that does not yet exist. You can also indicate when you do not know the answer or when a situation does not apply.

It takes about 10–15 minutes to complete. You can continue as a guest; creating an account is optional. If you decide to use "My Account," the results will be available for you to view later.

+

What You Get Upon Completion

  • Digital Audit Score from 0 to 100: an overall assessment of the maturity of the evaluated ecosystem.
  • Results by area: a breakdown that allows for comparison of the eleven dimensions without reducing everything to a single figure.
  • Strengths: abilities that already add value and should be preserved or further developed.
  • Priority opportunities: areas where there is the greatest potential for progress.

The result appears as soon as you finish, and it is also sent by email. You don't have to wait several days to receive an initial response.

+

Signs That It Might Help You

The Audit may be helpful if you recognize one or more of these situations:

  • You invest in content or advertising, but you're not sure what's working.
  • Each channel is managed separately, and there is no strategy to tie everything together.
  • Your website gets visitors, but you don't know how many of them turn into leads, sales, or reservations.
  • You have metrics, reports, or dashboards, but it's hard to turn them into decisions.
  • You keep track of information about customers or prospects, but there is no clear follow-up process.
  • You want to incorporate artificial intelligence or automation without adding tools that don't address a real need.
  • You know there are opportunities, but you need to decide where to start.

It is not necessary for all areas to be active. In fact, identifying what exists, what is not applicable, and what is missing is part of the evaluation.

+

What Your Score Means—and What It Doesn't Mean

The score organizes the responses within a common framework and provides an overview of the overall status and relative maturity of each area. It serves as a starting point for prioritization, not as a guarantee of results or an absolute rating of the company.

Two businesses with the same score may require different actions because they have different goals, audiences, resources, and business models. That is why breaking down the results by area and considering the context of the responses are just as important as the overall score.

Self-assessment is also no substitute for an in-depth technical audit, access to Analytics, campaigns, CRM, or platforms, or analysis by a specialist. When a deeper look is needed, the results help focus that conversation on the areas that deserve attention first.

+

Free and no account required

The Digital Audit is free. You can complete it as a guest and receive your results without creating an account. If you'd prefer to save your audit in "My Account," you can log in with your email and password or use Google, Apple, or Microsoft.

The account does not change the score or unlock a better answer. It simply makes it easier to save the result on the site so you can review it later.

+

You decide what happens next

When you're done, you don't have to re-enter all the information on another form. If you want Alterno to use the results and the information you've already shared to prepare a proposal, you can authorize it with a single click.

You can also choose to chat first, request an appointment, or indicate that you'd prefer to contact us later. The choice is yours, and the Opportunity Score that our team uses to organize opportunities is never displayed as part of your public profile.

If you need a more in-depth assessment or help turning the diagnosis into a plan, our Consulting and Strategic Marketing service can link the findings to priorities, resources, and next steps.

From Metrics to Decisions

A digital marketing audit shouldn't result in an endless list of things to fix. It should help you distinguish between what's urgent, what's important, and what can wait.

If you'd like to delve deeper into this topic, you can also check out our article on metrics and KPIs in digital media. And if you need to clarify the relationship between strategy and execution, we explain why marketing and advertising aren't the same thing.

The purpose of the Digital Audit is to turn a multitude of signals into a clearer picture. When you understand where you stand, you can make better decisions about what your next step should be.
